In 2003 ging tijdens het Glyndebourne Festival een spectaculaire productie van ‘Die Fledermaus’ van Johann Strauss jr. in première. Ook op de DVD-registratie is niets van het spektakel, dat vooral in de ingenieuze decors zit, verloren gegaan. Kenners zullen afgeleid zijn door de nieuwe dialogen die regisseur Stephen Lawless schreef, maar de uitvoering door onder anderen Pamela Armstrong, Thomas Allen, Håkan Hagegård en het London Philharmonic Orchestra is een waar feest.
